Monkey Shoulder began its life as a mix of Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie, matured in specially-chosen ex-bourbon casks. They continue to sample every blend and batch to ensure the balance and character is just right. While there's no guarantee which exact three malts are in any given bottle, the attention to detail and consistency has rapidly brought acclaim from even the staunchest of single malt scotch drinkers.
But what about that name? Well, the term was used to describe an affliction common in and unique to whisky maltmen who spent their days hand turning barley with a wooden shovel. This caused one arm to droop, and so the name 'monkey shoulder' came about. The more you know!
